‘Flower stories are endless’
It was said that Rikyu had a lush garden of morning glory. When the Taiko visited, the ground had been cleared and leveled with pebbles and sand. Furious that he had been robbed of the view, he marched into the tea hut. There, in a rare bronze vessel, lay a single morning glory – the Queen of the garden. Such is the flower sacrifice.
